Puducherry has planned a four-day beach festival starting April 13. The festival will promote tourism and create employment in UT.
Lakshminarayananan, Puducherry’s Tourism Minister, says tourists can expect cultural shows, western music and dance, fashion shows, seafood gourmet, water sports, and volleyball tournaments.
The festival is all set to be held at the Gandhi statue beach promenade, Chunnambar water sports complex, Paradise beach, sand dunes beach, and Gandhi tidal craft Bazar, and Pondy Marina Beach..
The Puducherry government also proposes making the UT a weekday tourist destination. Weekend visitors from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh already visit Puducherry.
The UT has built several tourist facilities, mostly on the beaches.
“We have made full efforts to overcome the situation created by the Covid situation,” the Tourism Minister said in a statement.
Puducherry’s French quarters and serene beaches are renowned. It is a popular tourist destination in southern India.
