The attentions of a Palace, the warmth of a family home – It is in the heart of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Grand Cru Classé, born in 1999 Les Sources de Caudalie. The concept’s origin is inspired by the “French Paradox” discovered more than 20 years ago, which values wine consumption benefits against cardiovascular diseases. Between vineyards and forests, at the gates of Bordeaux, the architect Yves Collet imagined a whole in total harmony with the surrounding environment. This contemporary design enriched with materials and recovery structures makes this house a place dedicated to the art of living in the heart of the vineyards.
Les Sources de Caudalie, located among the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves remarkable growth, was established in 1999. The concept behind Les Sources de Caudalie is inspired by the “French Paradox,” discovered over 20 years ago. It refers to a study proving that the French diet and lifestyle, particularly in Southwest France, is conducive to good health. Between vineyards and forests, at only 20 minutes from Bordeaux center, the architect Yves Collet created from scratch contemporary buildings from local recycled materials in tune with the surroundings.

Gastronomy – Here, time stands still – In the heart of the Graves vineyard, around the “Restaurant La Grand’Vigne,” was born an entire ecosystem of happiness. The vine, naturally and the horses, the vegetable garden, or the cooper, are the actors of a live show evolving with the seasons. Land of Vines – Without wine, the favorite fruit of this land, the experience would not be complete. The plates thus sublimate the sumptuous palette of Pessac-Léognan wines and elsewhere staged by Chef Sommelier Aurélien Farrouil. Chef Nicolas Masse likes to feel close to this land and those who cultivate its fruits. Like a winemaker, he seeks to express the very essence of this exceptional terroir and its products: he assembles and composes, ultimately retaining only the essentials.
“Restaurant – La Table Du Lavoir” – Terroir & Traditions – The purpose of La Table du Lavoir is to serve an elaborate and original “bistro” cuisine, varying with the seasons. In the extended period fireplace, the meats roast and give off their delicious smells while the gourmands read the menus written on old beaters. Mismatched pieces of silverware, bought by weight, are used alongside traditional and old fabrics to dress the tables in the Lavoir. The Old Washhouse – In the center of the room, the washhouse, reconstructed stone by stone, pays tribute to the women of the winegrowers who, in the 19th century, came to wash their clothes in this space. The frame was built from 18th-century wood salvaged from the cellars of Lafite-Rothschild, and the glass doors with small wood open on warm days to access the sheltered terrace.
“Red Wine Bar “- Gourmet Grocery & Wine Bar – Discover the gourmet grocery store and RED wine bar, a place of life and sharing where we drink, savor and enjoy good times with family or friends! A wide selection of wines from Bordeaux and elsewhere is savored on the spot (or to take away) and accompany delicious products from the South West. The pleasant terrace makes the place a friendly and relaxed place to enjoy the long summer nights. “Poolside Gourmet Break” – Bathed in light, the indoor pool at Les Sources de Caudalie lights up, and the veins of the leaves appear as if by magic.
