Watch out, there’s a new jam in town, MADE IN FRANCE.
Welcome to EMELBY GOURMET, a place you can get tickling those taste buds with intriguing and delicious artisanal jams, created in small batches, directly from Provence. I’m launching this brand at 54….let’s just say better late than never!
I am Michelle L Berkley (hence the name EMELBY – based on my initials MLB ). I am from Manchester in the UK, and have been living in Paris for 17 years.
So why did I start a new career in gourmet jam at 54? It all started when I met with a farmer from Provence who inspired me with her beautiful jams, and we decided to work together to prepare an artisanal gourmet range, which I am branding under my brand name EMELBY GOURMET.
The first jam was my “first love” – mon chouchou – the raspberry and geranium, I was so stunned by just how delicious it was, I had never tasted anything so “pretty” and magical before – it just woke up my taste buds with a bang! I had friends taste it and every single time I saw their eyes open in awe and say “wow”. I knew that this would be my “signature” jam. The other pairings soon followed: blackcurrant/mint, orange/mint and courgette (zucchini)/lemon. Intrigued yet?
As a designer and a marketing expert I decided to try and do a modern take on a traditional rustic product. I came up with the idea of the pink paper design – I have done all the design myself (logo, packaging, marketing, photography and social media) – I visualised the jam being kind of “wrapped up” in paper and was determined to build the entire brand myself. I wanted to be proud that I did it all on my own. Of course I have the advantage of living in Paris, which couldn’t be a more perfect place for inspiration.
I truly hope that these won’t be just jams, but an experience that I worked passionately to create, to inspire you to try new and intriguing flavours that bring a small smile to your lips, and hopefully you’ll want to keep coming back for more!
I hope you appreciate that Emelby Gourmet, as the name suggests, is a gourmet brand. I went to find the best quality produce in the South of France.
I am just a small business owner – I just started this year to develop this brand, but I have 30 years of marketing behind me and I’ve “been, seen and done”, so it’s been 54 years in the making.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, I hope I am able to transmit in these words all the blood, sweat and tears I have put into this project. I have really given it everything I have. I want to be proud of what I have achieved, and have tried to take care of every small detail. I hope the jam lives up to your expectations, I hope you’ll find a sprinkle of joy and magic in my little pink-covered jam jars. My goal is to bring people a little bit of sparkle into their life, I know it’s ‘just’ a jam to some, but if it brings a twinkle to your eye, I have acheived my goal.
