This is not a particularly “fancy” coffee bean. If the rule is “you usually get what you pay for,” then this is a good deal.
eight Oclock French Roast Coffee may not be “Blue Mountain Jamaca” at $32 per pound but it is serviceable coffee, a generally pleasant dark roast that is predictable in a good way.
If you want a generally reliably drinkable cup of coffee for everyday consumption the price, delivery and taste work here. Save the big money for those “special” days when you need something really nice.
I usually use a high priced premium coffee for my breakfast but when I make an after noon pot or if I have the family for Saturday brunch this is my go to and everyone seems to enjoy it. An excellent coffee at a fair price and the vacuum sealed bags are great.
Best major brand of coffee you can buy, at a good price. It clearly says “ground coffee” although I thought I was getting whole beans.
The grind is fairly suitable for a French Press, could be a little less fine but over all, acceptable, makes good coffee, and if the flavor stays fresh to the end of the sixth bag, I can get used to not having to grind my coffee.
I will update if that doesnt happen. Update : the price went up and my business went elsewhere. Aldi has coffee thats a little better, fair trade and cheaper.
I like dark roast coffees and this one was pretty good. It definitely stands up in quality against more familiar brands like Peets, Starbucks and Seattles Best.
I can pop these into the rotation of flavors from those brands that I like to keep the variety fresh and I dont notice any difference in the integrity of my coffee between them.
I have no complaints about the quality, price or packaging of this product and I will likely purchase this or one of the other flavors again in the future.
Received old product with a best buy date two months before I ordered it. I am updating the above review – I thought all the product I received had the same expiration date but only one was expired.
I would give this product five starts for the taste, but since I did receive one expired package changed to four stars
If you like a rich and full bodied coffee with very little bitterness, then this coffee is for you.
If you enjoy a strong yet smooth cup of coffee, this is the brand for you. To make one cup of coffee, I place two large scoops of coffee (about 2 tbsp) into a french press (1 Liter model), pour in boiling water about half way.
After letting it steep for about 2-3 minutes, I pour myself and enjoy nice hot cup of coffee. Eight OClock also sells whole beans, which Im sure taste even better after a fresh grind.
I bought this coffee because it seemed like the Hawaiian coffee I usually purchased kept going up in price. Wow. I am so happy that I made the leap. The flavor is so much better than the Hawaiian with warm, rich notes and a bit of nuttiness.
