I love bread! This baguette is crispy from the outside and soft from the inside, exactly the way it should be. It is basically long, thin loaf of French bread which is distinguishable by its length and crispy crust.
INGREDIENTS-
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of warm water
1 1/2 Tsp of active yeast
1 Tsp sugar
2 Tsp salt
INSTRUCTIONS-
*In a bowl take warm water, add sugar and yeast. Give it a slight mix and let it rise for 5 minutes.
*In another bowl take flour and add salt to it. Give it a mix and then add yeast water. Mix it with a wooden spoon until it’s combined well. Feel free to use your hand to combine everything well.
*The dough is going to be very sticky so don’t worry about it.
*Now in a large bowl pour some oil and place the dough on it. Cover it with a plastic wrap and keep it aside for 2 hours. I usually keep it inside my microwave without switching it on.
Once the dough has risen, take it out in a floured surface and cut it in 2 halves. Roll it into a 12-inch rope and place it in a baking tray. (Lightly dust flour onto the baking tray).
*Cover with a towel and let them sit for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
*Preheat the oven to 475ºf. Place a cast iron skillet at the bottom of the rack.
*Then place the baguette tray on the top shelf and fill the cast iron with water.
*Bake it for 30-35 minutes. And that’s it…
*Let it rest once it’s done and it’s ready to serve.
*Enjoy!
NOTES-
Have it with some tomato soup or salad and your tummy with thank you.
