Stagecoach Vineyard needs no introduction – planted to the volcanic, high-altitude soils straddling Atlas Peak and Pritchard Hill, it is the largest contiguous vineyard in Napa Valley and grows coveted grapes for the most storied (and expensive) names in the industry.
Our previous Stagecoach offerings (Lots 525, 597, 603, & 608) are some of the best-received wines in the history of the Lot program, and Lot 698 should be no different – it exhibits all the richness, intensity, and terroir that have made Stagecoach such an iconic name in the valley. Aged in 100% French oak and made with all the bells and whistles, this is a rock star wine in every sense of the word.
Pours dark and inky in the glass – a total black hole. The nose is humongous, redolent with the crushed red rock volcanics that define Stagecoach but also pungent with acacia flower and meaty red fruits. With a little air, blackberry kirsch and graham cracker underpin a beautiful bouquet of iodine and white flower notes. Weighty and rich with fruit and structure on the palate, it finishes with a huge tannic flourish wrapped in red rock and black fruit. Beautifully balanced and intense throughout, this is absolutely fantastic stuff and an incredible steal.
