I was born and raised in France, lived in the US and the UK, and I’ve been thinking about the modern drinking cultures in these three different countries recently : what are the representation of alcohol, the behaviors of teenagers and young adults, the relationship we have with it … So this is a pretty personal chat about all of this.
Disclaimer, I only express my opinions, my thoughts based on what I’ve observed and been told in each of these countries, I make generalizations so I can talk about this vast topic but of course drinking culture not only varies depending on the country, but within a country depending on ethnicity, religion, social class, geographical location, etc. I come from a place of privilege on every single topic I talk about because I am a privileged person, and I am conscious that this is definitely a bias in my perspective.
Anyway, I would really love to hear your thoughts, questions, arguments, on these topics. I’ll read all of your comments and will be happy to reply and discuss !
