During the Covid-19 lockdown I have been asked a number of interesting wine questions – with this a regular one.
What if any is the difference between Pinot Grigio & Pinot Gris ?
Both wines are made from the same grape varietal – just different spelling, one in Italian & one in French. But the styles & expressions are two sides of the same coin: Pinot Grigio’s are typically light, crisp & dry in style. Pinot Gris’s are more aromatic, and generous on the palate with a softer finish.
A good Wine Retailer & Restaurant will offer both as Pinot Grigio is ideal with lighter cuisine and a Pinot Gris is an ideal pairing with slightly more seasoned dishes… ‘sip, savour & share the journey…’.
