While tasting through the young red wines in January, 2019, we got a thrill of pleasure when we stumbled into a small lot of Pinot Noir grown at our home block Summerhill Vineyard.

Grown and made biodynamically, the crushed grapes were placed in a 10 000L French oak foudre to ferment. No yeast or nutrients were added, but everything needed for a successful transformation from juice to wine was present in the fruit itself. The purity and clarity was truly mouthwatering, so we decided to bottle the wine young to preserve this profound quality.

The structure of the wine is different from barrel aged red wines. The tannins are more noticeable, and the fruit and acidity are more vibrant and immediate. Luckily 2018 was a hot one in the Okanagan, so that the tannins are ripe and soft, and the flavours are express all of the complexity that makes us love Pinot Noir; from strawberry to leather and earth, and back again.

We hope you will enjoy this uniquely beautiful wine while it lasts.
