The restoration of Notre Dame has been stopped in its tracks, amid France’s coronavirus shutdown. It’s a year since a huge blaze ripped through Notre Dame. After the flames were put out, nearly 100 architects, engineers and archaeologists had been working to return the Cathedral to its former glory.
Only when 40,000 pieces of fire-damaged scaffolding weighing nearly 300 tonnes are finally taken down in a risky operation that the Cathedral can be declared stable.
