I made this video for my “From Boston to Broadway” class at Longy School of Music of Bard College.
In this video, I introduce Chef Julia to my dining room. In the middle of the dining table sits a portable electric stove for serving hot pot at the table. Hot pot is one of my favorite things to eat, and also one of Chef Julia’s favorite things to cook.
I modeled the setting of this video after the life and career of Julia Child, who was famous for her cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”, and for her cooking show on WGBH, “The French Chef”. In addition to career as a chef, cookbook author and tv host, she was also very good friends with another famous chef in the Boston area, Joyce Chen. Chen, like Child, also published a cookbook of her own, and had her own show filmed at the same WGBH studio as Child’s. While Child introduced Bostonians to French food, Chen did the same thing with authentic Chinese food.
