Colonial Dinner Rolls
Ingredients:
2 cups bread flour
1/2 cup whole milk, warmed to 120 degrees
1/4 cup water, warmed to 120 degrees
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp softened butter
Directions:
In a small bowl mix water, milk, and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit until it becomes foamy (about 5 to 10 minutes).
In a large bowl combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and butter. Mix until the dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for eight minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl cover and let it rise for one hour or until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
Punch down the dough and divide into eight pieces. Shape into rounds and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
Cover and let rise for one hour.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bake for 20 minutes.
Serve warm with butter.
