James Suckling had long dreamt of making his own wine glass. Just like a violinist with his favorite Stradivarius, a wine critic’s particular glass is the tool of his profession. Indeed, James travels everywhere with the same wine glasses.

Last year, he approached renowned French crystal-maker LALIQUE with his vision of making the perfect wine glass. Together they collaborated and created the LALIQUE James Suckling 100 POINTS Universal Wine Glass.

The idea was to make a glass that could be used for all wines. The response was overwhelming. But people wanted more glasses. They wanted a Champagne glass. They wanted a Bordeaux glass. They wanted a Burgundy glass. They even wanted a whisky glass.

So James decided to go one step further. He decided to combine his more than 30 years of experience as a wine critic with the 100-year-old expertise of LALIQUE and see what it would take to create an entire glass collection.

Visiting the LALIQUE factory he uncovers the craftsmanship, history and above all passion of the people whose families have been working with crystal for generations. Together with James’ knowledge of wine it’s this that leads to the conclusion you’ll see of this mini-documentary, “Wine Glass”. The LALIQUE James Suckling 100 Points Collection.
