Chef and restaurateur Camari Mick breaks down dessert scenes from movies and TV based on realism.
Mick discusses the accuracy of fine-dining dessert ingredients in FX’s “The Bear,” the baking techniques in “Chef” (2014), and the pitfalls of processed foods from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” She also gives recipe suggestions for the cookies from “Friends,” dishes on the current and past culinary trends from “Bridesmaids,” and breaks down the emulsions from “The Menu.” She analyzes the accuracy of bread from “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” marmalade from “Paddington 2,” and beignets from “The Princess and the Frog.”
Mick has been cooking for over 12 years, having worked at several fine dining restaurants in New York City. She most recently worked as the executive pastry chef at the Michelin-starred Musket Room. She is chef and owner of the forthcoming L’Atelier Ebene.

"The best chocolates to gift for Valentine's Day, according to a professional chocolatier": https://bit.ly/4rP1pKe
I’m obsessed with her
This woman is amazing and I wish she had her own show
6:10 “stage” means internship in French. They are pretty common in kitchens. Though in France they are two months unpaid, any more than that and they have to pay you. But it’s still a very low pay
This is so fun to watch. I’m a chef as well, and I went to school to learning baking and work in the industry. It’s funny I had many of the same instincts as she did. Though there is still much I have to learn 🙂
Who is this divaaaaaaaaaaaa
I know all chefs are generally pretentious, but sheesh…👀
2:26 Aww you didn’t comment on KiKi’s chocolate cake later seen in the film!
17:50 is the realest statement Ive heard in a minute. Influencers are some of the most obnoxious and self absorbed people on the internet. She couldn’t have said it better. Eat your food and get out
Yep, flours of bag. Yep.
💕 👑🥰🫶💯🌟 💜
called a pain au chocolat mate
i love everything about her
I like her and the way she broke everything down and simple.
I feel like Bear is very similar to Shameless. Most people who never experienced family abuse or restaurant trauma love these shows but most people have experienced these things are not too keen on the shows. So I can totally see why she stopped watching Bear.
bloobs
Chocolat is such a delightful movie
3:20 YES, Yeast donuts are the only acceptable doughnut
11:05 diva
Michelin stars actually don’t mean anything anymore.
There was a huge scandal when it was revealed by former Michelin inspectors that they were overawarding stars to some groups and underawarding stars to others for woke political purposes.
Since then the stars became basically irrelevant unless the stars were earned prior to 2015.
“The English don’t know how to cook”. Probably the wildest statement I’ve heard so far this year.
I once had somebody unironically use that episode of friends as the basis of an argument that the tollhouse cookie recipe is better than any other chocolate chip cookie recipe
Annoying af
She has a real hate for the Bear.
After 5mins I can tell I would never want to work for her. She is amazing at what she does, but she's so far up her on a55. The attitude is just a complete turn off.
never made a fish pie?
Give this woman a baking show ASAP. She has a wealth of knowledge and fun personality
HER GUNS?! R U KIDDING
Pretty sure quinel is with 2 spoons and roche is with one spoon. 😅 Small correction
Okay but why are the portions always made for ants? I don’t care how good it is I’m not paying a ton for a bite or two
You obviously have not had a peak cake donut. Far superior to the yeasted nonsense.
I was a baker (at Publix) and worked a second job as a personal trainer for a few months. I was in unbelievable shape😤
This was so fun to watch!
The Jamaican came out for that cannoli. Hahaha.
Amazing.. obviously knowledgeable, and comfortable enough in what she knows to make great jokes. Bring her back! I don't even care what for
Tell me you don't like the Bear without telling me you don't like the Bear. 🤣🤣
Love Camari's takes in all of this!
I dont really like yeast donuts but cake ones are good. Which is weird because i dont like cake
