Today Chef Ben and Home Cook Barry are both handed the exact same ingredients to make a true dessert classic: Lemon Meringue Pie.
The catch… The kitchen is divided so neither of them can see what the other is doing.
Chef Ben will lean on professional skill, technique and clever shortcuts to create a crisp pastry shell, a smooth, sharp lemon filling, and a perfect meringue.
Home Cook Barry has to work it all out for himself.

Is it just me or did Barry seem to make a better base? Ben’s was blitzed for way too long and mixed with too much butter. Ben also seemed to have overcooked his lemon curd? There were solids when he strained the mixture. His meringue was also slightly over whipped, and the final pie presented was not even the one he made 😢
I think we need a new pokerface episode soon… especially since Jamie's dr note should have expired… also add a punishment for the person who loses the guessing…
I prefer it when the "normals" dish is tried first. By going chef first then normal, you get disappointed in the normal instead of impressed by the chef. Two completely different ways to see something.
LEMON MERINGUE PUDDLE, OR HOT DOGS IN MUSTARD SAUCE
Is this cooking channel going xxx rating?
“We are alll stiff Ebbers” 😂😂😂
Even without the unnecessary spoiler at the beginning of the video you could ( and should ) have expected a result like this. After all, Barry started a sentence with "in my head…". And we all know as a fact: Once THOSE words are out, it´s safe to expect a clusterfuck of epic proportions! 🙂
Why is Ebbers wearing his granddad's pajama top in these videos?
Barry, you've made a lemon meringue toad in the hole, man.
I've seen so many videos when I was on my friends television I owe you so many likes! This is a really great watch too and thanks to Barry for taking on the challenge and letting us learn something through the result. I've never made a lemon meringue pie and having a visual understanding of what happens when a step is missed is really helpful, and fun. I totally laughed out loud not at you Barry but the laughter of recognition as this past week, I made a magic cake and the center of it turned out gooey so you made me feel less alone
It’s a tricky pie to make, I remember when I started I made about 10 in the space of a couple of days until I nailed the curd
Barry talking to the eggs to not scramble is vibes
What’s with the crappy AI thumbnail that makes it look like Barry has put hotdogs on his pie?!
Miss the old fasiom 3 guys cooking battles love the new stuff just miss the fun competitions
WHO ORDERED A LEMON WATERFALL 😂
Happy I read the comments and skipped the intro 😅
0:43 I am just starting this video and I am eager to watch this. I make lemon meringue the way my mother taught me. And its a great classic, that always reminds me of her. Biscuits base is cheating buy the way but today we call them hacks.
When did the production quality get so bad? Audio has always been a problem for you guys but man the colours are wack between your shots and sometimes it’s so washed out, doesn’t make the food look nice at all
Awks switching out Ebbers meringue pie… are you guys rigging these now to make the normals look bad and chefs to look better? Not the sorted food I grew to love
when things go this bad- can we get an explanation of where Baz went wrong, so we can learn from it? (either by the chef at the end or even as a breakdown video.)
The best bit is when you ruin the video in the first few seconds. Great editing!
A funny moment: When he started saying "There are three elements, the lemon filling, the meringue," I expected him to continue with "the pie" and was so caught off guard by "the nutty base."
I like how this series became like a teaching experience
Anyone else watch it and then come back a few days later to see the comments and to see if they'd answered anyone about why Ebber's pie changed? 😂
12:37 😁
Oh, Baz!!!
This seems like a very unfair challenge.
