To make the world’s most expensive wine, high-quality wooden barrels are needed — and for that, strong French oak wood is used.

These oak logs are first cut and shaped into rings. Then the wood is heated from the inside and sprinkled with water on the outside to make it flexible. After that, a hydraulic press is used to tightly fit iron rings around the wood.

The barrel is now ready from the outside, but the inside is burned and charred. This charring absorbs harmful chemicals from the wine and also adds a rich oak flavor.

Because of this process, the wine becomes smoother and develops a rich, pleasant aroma.
