Viognier is a unique white grape variety that produces wines unlike any other. It demands great care from the winemaker and came close to extinction in the 1970s before experiencing a revival and gaining popularity worldwide.
In this video, we look at t the history of Viognier; the characteristics and distinctive features of the variety; the terpenoids responsible for its aromatic profile; and its primary production regions—including its homeland, the Northern Rhône (specifically the key appellations of Condrieu, Château-Grillet, and Côte-Rôtie), as well as Languedoc, California, and Australia.
