Time Out’s 2025 ranking gave the top spot to the iconic jambon beurre from Le Petit Vendome in the 2nd arrondissement. Open since 1954, this place sticks to what it does best: simple recipes, quality ingredients, and a proper old school bistro atmosphere.

I went for the saucisson and Cantal sandwich and… not sure I’d call it the best in Paris. But for the price, it’s absolutely worth it. 6 euros for one ingredient-sandwich and 8 euros for two.

What stood out more than anything was the vibe. Friendly staff, no fuss, and a crowd that felt like a real slice of the neighborhood. Locals and tourists, all ages, all mixing together.

The ingredients were solid. Only downside, the baguette wasn’t at its peak freshness. We ordered around 5pm and it was a bit too firm. The fries were really good though!
