**2021 Mason ‘chardonnay’ [Napa Valley]** 14.1% abv This house is better known for their sauvignon blanc, but this is also pretty good. it’s a 2-3k case bottling from cooler vineyards in southern Napa. It’s leaner, stonier, brighter than more typical Napa chardonnay, but at age 5 is pretty well balanced so I would not group it on the far end of that spectrum. Creamy but not buttery. White pear notes too. Heavy bottle, natural cork. I think I’d slot it into the B+ zone. Fairly priced if one likes this ilk AND would drink it soon. Great find for a closeout as its not a bulk offering and is genuine. Still due to the glut there is lots of great Chard at this price point; I picked up Brewer Cliftons for $10 yest for example.
