We just finished redoing this corner. I love how it captures the seasons like a living painting… I can imagine how the view outside will shift when the seasons change.
However, my wife thinks it's too bare. She wants to add more details to the cabinet like some vases, candles, or small sculptures. Personally, I think the window should just stay a pure focal point without the extra noise. Should I keep it minimal or add some decor?

I think if she’s feeling like something is missing you can get a longer console table and she can add a vase on the side…. But this is stunning and I wouldn’t change a thing.
This is beautiful, I wouldn’t add anything but centre the console to the window
I would center the console under the window but I also like it bare with the seasonal picture vibe
What is on either side of this window? I personally think the sideboard is a bit high- it bugs me that it’s covering the bottom part of the window frame. Could you put the sideboard to the left or right of the window and add some decor? I think leaving the window completely unobstructed would look much nicer. Then you can add some decor to the sideboard area, making it look more intentional.
It looks like an empty soulless furniture display at a store, especially with that flat boring window.
Make it look like real life humans with real life lives exist here
If there were indoor plants here,it could enhance the feeling of connecting with nature. It may be in contrast at certain times of the year as well. I would add a natural material or color table runner to soften things.
Your wife is 100% right. If you want the view to stand alone you need some actual landscaping instead of just an expanse of lawn. Even then, it would benefit from a bit more on the inside too. It just looks unfinished now.
And if you want the window to be the focal point, line the console up with it properly
Why isn’t it centered? I’m with your wife. I’m not a fan of a bunch of knick-knacks but without a window dressing and/or a couple of tasteful objects, it looks unfinished.
You need a low and long plant that doesn’t obscure the view.
It’s nice as it is, but for the love of god, center it.
Living painting is amazing! Get a low console so the decor doesn’t go in front of the window
Personal taste varies widely and the internet isn’t going to be able to give you a definitive answer. You have to work this out with your wife.
Personally, I would add a vase and a plant.
In the winter most of the trees will be bare.
I like the idea of the window as art, but even art over a console table usually has *something* on the console- vase, plant, candles, picture frame, etc.
Center your console. Drapes on either side will still frame the window but leave the view.
Your wife is correct. As is, it’s unfinished.
I’d add a few bits to the console – not much, just enough so it doesn’t look bare. Window is still the focal point, but it’s a focal point at distance – having something to focus on in the foreground doesn’t in any way detract from this, rather it helps add perspective. And obviously line the cabinet up properly.
It needs some decor. Can we get a wider shot of this space?
I would get curtains with a subtle pattern and leave them open and maybe swag it to the right. I would also suggest one large bust in a cream color to the side of the console. Do not add a lot of little things. Select a few curated pieces that will add drama and elegance.
Curtains and a plant or two would make a huge difference. Maybe some books on their sides so that it doesn’t come up too high on the window
Center that thing, please, so my eye stops twitching. 🤣 Add some curtains to warm it up and mayyyyybe add some vases or statues on the ends only so nothing obstructs the view.
The console looks to be bowing in the center, is there something heavy stored inside?
Is the view in the room with us?
Plant ornamental trees.
I think you should center the table and get a bird bath
I actually don’t like that the cabinet isn’t centered on the window.
I’d get a sideboard that is a little shorter in height and width. One without sag in the middle
Then with some breathing room between the bottom on the window and the top of the piece she could add the vase or stuff and things. It would also make
The window more focal as you’ll see the whole frame
I would love to see a tall vase or sculpture on the right side, where the cabinet extends in front of the wall. As for the rest of the cabinet, I think something has to go there, but maybe just some low books or magazines, or even a tray? It does look bare to me; and as the person in my house who dusts I love the fact that there is nothing to have to move & put back, but just a little something would go a long way.
I’d frame the window with some detailed framing, similar to a painting if that’s the vibe, add some cool thrift finds and a tall plant on the right if the cabinet can’t be centered.
Real weird how you were able to warp perspective and set the top of that console to be flush against the glass and the side of the window frame but not the bottom…
