hi, all: looking for help with how to decorate the 2d floor landing. this photo differs in paint color, materials/floor, and fixtures–but the layout is almost same. What can I put here that doesn't close off the space? A storage chest? a side table? plants? Ideally this will show off our Christmas tree during the holidays, but I'm torn on how else to utilize the space. I can't imagine anyone sitting in chair/seat here. Thank you for any and all suggestions

I think a narrow coffee table or a shallow storage cabinet (with a depth ranging from 8 to 10 inches) would be very suitable. On top of it, you can place a small table lamp, a tray for keys or letters, and a hanging green plant to add a soft touch. Place a tall and slender indoor plant near the window. As for the wall itself, an artwork or a small mirror would be very appropriate.

If you have little ones, nothing that can be climbed on too easily. Maybe do a big statement art wall across from it and have it with nothing. Or plants.
