Unfortunately I cannot afford to replace the couch. I’m not big on painting because it’s somewhat of an open concept and I don’t want to paint the entire main floor. I guess I could but idk, nervous to have an actual color on the entire main floor. Any help is appreciated.

I really like the last one with the two framed canvases. It takes the room in a more modern direction and matches your furniture. You don’t have to get abstract pictures, but that size and frame really works well.

I would consider a small narrow mirror to replace the picture near your front door. The current art is a little bit depressing.

I have the same issue with the painting, our living room, my office space, and the dining room are all one ‘big’ room. I’m going to have to find a cut-off point because what I want to do for the living room isn’t going to work for the entire space or it’ll become too dark. I think I might go with a peel & stick paper for a transition area. Perhaps you could do the same. Looking again, I don’t see why you couldn’t paint to the bump-out but it would probably be nicer to go all the way to the door.

    1. No need to replace that lovely sofa!
    2. The rug and curtains are very pale in relation to it and the ottoman.
    3. Why did you remove the other art? If you want that painting there, you have plenty of wall space to fit it all in.

I feel like the sofa is sort of floating in the space and needs something to help anchor it and I keep looking at the curtains. If you’re after warm and traditional then you need to paint or do something with the walls IMO. Camel and terra cotta could work well here. Keep the moulding white.

I don’t think you have to repaint. If you want more color, I’d consider switching out the curtains, adding a few cushions on the couch, and/or more colorful artwork.

I think the couch is big for the room, and the ottoman definitely looks too big. It may work better if you flip it sideways, but if you can get a smaller coffee table, the room will flow a lot better.

The color of your curtains is giving a colder, grey tint to daylight coming in. You might want to look into a warm color curtain, like eggyolk or burnt ochre. It’ll make a world of difference already.
