Thoughts?? Planning to get more color samples in the blue family to try this weekend. The navy was one my mom had on hand but is too dark. I found the second photo and LOVE it but I don’t think I can actually execute that look well in my kitchen

  1. I think sage green would look best. If you go with an orange-ish color, nothing will stand out and will look very monotone since your cabinets read orange.

I wouldn’t go blue. With the brown-black countertop, beige backsplash and woodwork with orange undertones, the blue just looks like it was randomly chosen. And there are just too many competing tones.

I actually like the larger brown swatch. It pulls the flakes in the countertop out more and blends in with the cabinets. Add accessories in the beige tone about the space to pull out the backsplash and it will look dramatic without being chaotic.

The other brown is too orangey and will fight with the backsplash.

The grey is a no. It has nothing to connect it to the other elements. Again randomly chosen and too many competing tones.

White is too stark against the rest.

A cream or beige could work. Match it to the backsplash to emphasize the wood and countertop.

The sage green is the only one I like here.

I think the red/brown would look best. Color on color can be very nice. You just need to break it up with decor.

The sage or off white. The burnt orange in the inspo photo is broken up by the brickwork, so it’s not right next to the cabinets.

I would also consider a slate blue

I don’t see sage green at all. I only see grey

When I saw the rusty paint colors, I thought omg no!!! BUT then I saw your inspiration pic & fell in love. If you figure out a way to pull that off, go for it. It looks like more than just paint though. The walls look like they were skimmed with something – like a thin coat of tinted plaster maybe. Everything is very earthy with matte finishes. Your cabinets are not shiny, but compared to the inspiration kitchen, your cabinets appear glossier.
Lighting is so important in a kitchen – so I hope you have lots of windows & light fixtures in your kitchen if you paint it a dark color. Good luck!
