TLDR: Do I leave this art up and center it or start from scratch? My gallery walls always look cluttered and jenky so I am not thrilled with that idea either.

For reference my living room is about 10’ wide by 25’ long.

For 10+ years I had the sofa against this wall with the TV on the opposite wall. The wall adjacent includes a very large off center window and across from where the sofa was is another large off center window. The windows almost (by a foot or so) meet up in the corner of the room.

I moved the sofa to the adjacent wall to open up the space. The TV is no longer directly across from the sofa but is watchable and has a flexible mount. I am a casual TV watcher so am happy with this set up and to not have the TV as the central focus when I am on the sofa.

I do love the new set up as it clears up floor space and looks more open. I only recently added the rug (which is muted navy, bright, and cream—not grey—and is much more colorful in person). My dogs love it too!

The large piece of art you see used to be centered over the sofa. I had shelves to the far right to help it look more centered on the wall too. I removed the shelves since I never put anything on them and to declutter the space. I need to fill holes and repaint the wall.

I do not want to add furniture to the space. I know a chair would look nice where the dog bed is. But, I really don’t have company though, and if I do it’s casual and we sit on the sofa together.

Center the art. Center it from the side of the plant to the end of the wall. Do not center from the corner. You put it in the visual center and not always the actual center. That will make it feel more balanced. You could also put some soft of console table under it. A table would be preferable to a chest because it is open on would not block whatever vent that is. It would also sort of camouflage the vent. You could put baskets on the bottom to store dog toys and such.
