Since it’s still a bit nippy, tonight I’m showing you how to properly enjoy a French classic: Courvoisier Cognac.

The Science of the Sip:
Spirits like Brandy, Armagnac, and Cognac actually benefit from being slightly warmed. I’m using a traditional brandy warmer with a small tea light, but if you don’t have one, don’t worry! You can simply rest your glass over a mug of boiling water to get that gentle heat.

The Design:
Ever wonder why brandy glasses are shaped like that? It’s so your hand can cup the bowl, using your own body temperature to release those beautiful aromas.

The Verdict:
After warming for a few minutes, the Courvoisier becomes incredibly pleasant. It’s a very sweet spirit—I’m getting a lovely hint of honey at the end. While I’m usually a whiskey man, this warmed Cognac is very nice indeed for the winter months.

Do you warm your brandy, or do you prefer it straight from the bottle? Let me know!

  1. You just reminded me of my dad! He would always ask for his brandy to be warmed up and I remember being very little and asking him why that was… Miss you dad ❤️❤️❤️!

  2. In the Highlands the half bottle was always stored down the front of the trousers kept in place by the belt.
