I’m currently redoing my bedroom and I’ve been eyeing a low-pile, washable rug. I found one from Garvee on sale that fits my space and color palette. It seems like a steal, but I have some major hesitations.

I have a dog who treats the entire house like a racetrack. My current high-pile rug is basically a giant sponge for hair and "outside smells," so the idea of being able to just throw a rug in the wash sounds like a dream. But I have questions:

  • Does an 8×10 actually fit in a standard front-load washer? Or am I going to end up at the laundromat every time there’s a mess?
  • Do these things air-dry quickly, or do they get that musty smell if they don't go in a dryer?
  • Since it’s low-pile, does the dog hair actually vacuum off easily? I'm worried it might get "interwoven" into the fabric.
  • Does the non-slip backing survive the agitation of a washing machine, or does it start crumbling after a few cycles?

I’d love to hear from anyone who has made the switch to these thin, washable rugs. Is the convenience worth the trade-off in coziness? Thanks in advance!
