I recently purchased that corner lamp but it feels off…

I do need more lighting in general in this area. My living room is a super odd shape. Should I change the lamp into a thin standing lamp? Or should I maybe put a floating shelf on the left side of the sofa and put a table lamp on there? I can’t put anything on the right side of the sofa because there is already a tight walkway. We got a bigger sofa because a loveseat was way too small for us and our dog.

This is a living room/dining room situation.

All the big furniture and mounted items need to stay exactly where they are. I’m currently looking for a smaller walnut coffee table.

Thanks!

Right off the bat, I have 0 complaints and really love everything you’ve done so far. But I 100% understand feeling like needing more lighting!

Idk I really like what you have going rn, if anything I’d add the floating shelf next to the couch, I like that idea a lot!

For me I think that it’s the lack of focal point. You have a lot of small objects and mounted furniture concentrated on the side walls, which makes them visually heavy compared to the large, bare, white wall. I would consider a large piece of art, or a triptych to break up all the white and tie the two side walls together.

You just need a huge piece of art, I’d try to thrift something cool that’s large enough. I would avoid a gallery wall.

You’ve got so much square going on here. Everything is boxy and has sharp lines, you neeeed something round in the mix to soften things up.
