What can I do with the kitchen?

This is a house my parents rent out but I will be moving in in August! I loveeee this house. It was built in the 40s and it’s in such a cute location. It has a lot of character but I do want to spruce it up a little bit. I think if I make a good argument to my parents about enhancing its features and increasing the value, they would be cool with me changing a few things. What ideas do you guys have? 😁
