नेशनल सिक्योरिटी का हवाला देकर डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ग्रीनलैंड पर कब्जे की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, जिसका फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति इमैमुएल मैक्रों ने कड़ा विरोध किया है।
बताया जा रहा है कि ट्रंप इस मुद्दे पर किसी भी हद तक जाने को तैयार हैं।
ग्रीनलैंड विवाद को लेकर ट्रंप ने फ्रांसीसी शराब पर 200 प्रतिशत टैरिफ लगाने की धमकी तक दी।
इस पर वर्ल्ड इकोनॉमिक फोरम, दावोस में मैक्रों ने साफ जवाब दिया।
मैक्रों ने कहा कि फ्रांस धमकियों नहीं, आपसी सम्मान में विश्वास करता है।
ग्रीनलैंड विवाद का जिक्र करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि यूरोप पर प्रतिबंधों की धमकी देना गलत है, खासकर तब जब उनका इस्तेमाल किसी देश की जमीन और संप्रभुता पर दबाव बनाने के लिए किया जाए।
Citing national security concerns, Donald Trump is pushing for control over Greenland, a move that has drawn strong opposition from French President Emmanuel Macron.
Trump appears willing to go to any extent to achieve this objective.
As part of the pressure tactics, Trump even threatened a 200% tariff on French wine.
Responding at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Macron firmly rejected the threats.
He stated that France believes in respect, not intimidation.
Referring to the Greenland issue, Macron warned that threatening further sanctions on Europe is wrong, especially when such measures are used to pressure a nation’s territory and sovereignty.
