French Market Patio Holiday: Background Music Loop

As you walk inside the French Market at Disneyland’s New Orleans Square during the Halloween Season, you’ll notice that it has been dressed up as a sort of companion restaurant to the spooky mansion by the hill over yonder.

The entrance gates are flanked by sinister-looking skulls displayed against unevenly pinstriped bows, framed with decaying foliage. Menus advertise some enticing meals, such as “Mayor’s Mufflets” (a New Orleans-style sandwich and chips served in a Jack Skellington Coffin) and Chocolate Coffin Cake.

Overhead, a black spiderweb stretches across the rotunda, with partially-eaten frosted gingerbread trapped in the tangles. An eagle-eyed observer may spot familar figurines of Zero, that loveable ghost-dog, and Oogie Boogie, surrounded by an assortment of pumpkins with crooked smiles and gifts wrapped in orange and black. Menacing teethed wreaths with beady yellow eyes stand watch to haunt all those who dare come to this haunted dining establishment.

Alas, the French Market is no longer with us (it has since been formally transformed into Tiana’s Palace) but the delights of holidays colliding can still be witnessed elsewhere in New Orleans Square.
