    I’m a beginning sewist, too, and I ran into the same problem of fabric too thick for the equipment/settings I had on my machine! What worked for me was using a 100-size needle (it’s bigger than regular needles and can punch through thicker material) and increasing my stitch length. A stitch length of 5 was perfect for my project. Smaller stitch lengths mean that the machine is not providing enough thread to make it all the way through the thicker material and so you get thread jams, breakage, and machine malfunctions. If you decide to take another crack at thick fabric, I’d recommend starting at a 5 or more stitch length on a scrap piece of the fabric you’re using, and then if the stitches look too long you can go down one stitch length at a time until you find the one you like.

    What a lovely video. How fortunate that you get to live a beautiful french country life surrounded by treasures you have collected.
    As for sewing you need to change your needle to a denim 14 and use a longer stitch length. I have sewn all my life and used to have a Singer store. A touch of sewing machine oil is probably needed if you don't use the machine regularly.
    The song brought tears to my eyes – please share it with me.

    my heart cannot see these frenchies…. omg… it reminds me of my good boy dino,when he was just a little frenchie, fitting just in the palm of my hand. gosh i miss him so much… its been over 10yrs since i lost him, its like losing a child. i coudnt have another one,cuz i would literally die if i lose another kid. i think of him still every day. he is my boy.

    Apple has huge doe eyes! She is a melter of hearts. 💜 This was such a thoughtful and melancholy video, Jeni and Justin. Faith is a beautiful and personal journey…and when I saw your flock of sheep in the field, I immediately thought of the Scripture verse, “My sheep know My Voice, and they follow Me.” So many references to sheep, flocks, shepherds and the Perfect Lamb in the Father’s Word! 😊Seeing them gathered in the beautiful pasture outside your windows warmed my heart immensely. I love the little changes in your home. Everything looks cozy and fresh and I love the basket of wooden pins. Kinda miss that Smeg though. 😘😘. Happy and blessed Holidays to you both. Love, CCC 💞 🐑 🐑
