The third Thursday in November is the global release day of Beaujolais Nouveau. This French wine is made from Gamay that was just harvested a few weeks ago. It’s a simple wine, all primary fruit notes, best served slightly chilled. I picked it up at Total Wine for $12.99.

Checked it out today at my TW and it was $14.99. kinda disgusted me. Been buying that wine for 20 years at release. It's decent, fun to drink. Was $8.99 back in the day. Last year I paid 11 bucks. I wouldn't beef at the $13 you paid, but $15 annoys me; especially at TW. Just 2 bucks, I know. Still bugs me.
I have noticed sharp price increases on french wine over the last year at Total Wine. Beaujolais I used to pay $12-$13 for is now $16-$17. I bought a bottle of Cairanne cru Cotes du Rhone today for $32. The exact same wine/vintage was $25 earlier this year. The tariffs were set at 15% so there must be additional reasons for the price increases.
