There’s nothing quite as comforting as a warm bowl of soup on a chilly day, and French Onion Soup is the ultimate classic. It’s cozy, rich, and full of love. Whether you’re curling up by the fire or pretending you’re in a Parisian bistro, this recipe sets the perfect mood.
This is Sarah’s all-time favourite soup, one she’s perfected over the years. No exact measurements required. We’re not chefs, but we sure know how to cook with heart. So measure with your heart, too. ✨

Ingredients:
6–10 onions (any colour)
3 leeks
2 shallots
2 garlic cloves
6 sage leaves
6–8 cups broth (beef, chicken, or veggie)
Drizzle of Worcestershire sauce
Aged cheddar
Parmesan
Croutons or cubed bread

Directions (watch the video for full details!):
Caramelize the onions, leeks, and shallots until deep golden and jammy.
Add garlic and saute for a minute or two
Add sage and a drizzle of Worcestershire for depth.
Simmer in rich broth until the flavours meld beautifully.
Top with croutons, cheddar, and Parmesan.
Broil until golden and bubbly.
Serve warm, and enjoy that cozy, homemade magic.

  1. I've never made French Onion soup. It looked fabulous .. up until the serving part. I love cheese, but wow. That cheese is binding. The onions heartburn. I ❤ it! I wrote it all down 😁

  2. Looks delish! I like to melt the cheese on the bread when I make but I never considered croutons before
