What? Perfect timing!!! I literally just finished unpacking 4 brand new French Onion Soup Bowls.
One of my favorite soups! Never made it, because I know I will cry too much. I just cut an onion for a salad and cried more than I cried the day when I was born. 😂 Cooking with raw onion is not for me.
IT'S A CAGE MATCH!
Edit: also the opening has enough onions on the counter for 2 tourines of soup max
What is happening with the audio from 6:55 to 7:29? The pitch of your voice is kinda bizarre. No sweat, just surprising.
You owe it to yourself to check out the Fallow French onion soup recipe.
Your next kitchen toy should be a mandolin, handy tool. A ladel would be an easier way to transfer stock to the onions. As a fellow Canuck, still love the Jays!) , I love your channel. You're a great Canadian food ambassador! Hugs from SSM ONT…you'll get that one🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I made Julia's for our Christmas dinner started last year after you made it! It was incredible, difficult to beat… So consider me locked in for this cage match! Ding ding 🔔
brother why don't you have a mandolin
just wear ski / snowboard goggles while cutting (clear lens). no tears.
23:17 The one trick I stand by for caramelising onions is to pour a bit of water in at the start. The pan's already going to be flooded with water once the onions begin to break down so it doesn't affect the end product too much, but it means you can cook them much more aggressively and reduce the length of time you spend babysitting them.
For the onion crying, just get a small fan to the side blowing across. It works 100%.
I'm just joking who do u think I am…….drop that 2nd bay leaf bae
11:32 18:29 Maybe stir the seasoning you added, then taste. Just a good cooking tip.
Jamie, when using a food mill, for every six forward turns, you need to then turn backward one turn.
Finally a cage match its been awhile
What a great time to log into YouTube
No one actually uses "flûte" for this type of bread in France.
We often say "baguette tradition" (or sometimes bakeries have their own names for it) but I haven't heard anyone use "flûte" in my 28years of existence. Especially for a low quality baguette like Ace, just "une baguette" is more than enough😅
First thing I'd think about if you say "flûte" in a cooking related conversation would be a thin tall glasses we use for champagne.
Soup season is best season
20:40 I ain't driving 😎
Fantastic… I'm about half way thru. Enjoying the cage match so far
My son worked at a pizza joint, he has to set up the salad bar. He used his ski goggles. He was terribly sensitive to onions.
Really Sharp knife should be the trick
We all know Julia won let’s be real
Is this on purpose or did he accidentally make recipes for the three chefs that appear in the first challenge of Next Gen Chef? 😭
I need something to cheer me up today. 🐦🍁💔
Julia's French Onion Soup really is very special, that's one I've made multiple times
Skip some salt and add to your stock a good heaping teaspoon of Marmite. It adds a big umami hit to your stock and it is not bouillon. Then salt to taste. ❤
10:35 it's almost like there's a perfect basic tool for this… in every kitchen ever…
You could use a food processor to slice those onions.
A "flute" is a thinner baguette.
All that said… You gotta rock the onion goggggggles bro.. You have to 😂
What I enjoy about y'all's presentation together is that it seems like you're really friends!
Oh man, if I don't get French Onion Soup quick, someone is gonna get hurt! 😂
Christie soooooo wonderful to see you gorgeous gal. 💋Julia all the way ❤❤❤
The funny thing about French onion soup, it's no longer really about the onions, it's about the quality of the stock.
Great video, thanks! Finally feels like you're back!
I have to say this makes my Sunday better!!!
