  1. What? Perfect timing!!! I literally just finished unpacking 4 brand new French Onion Soup Bowls.

  2. One of my favorite soups! Never made it, because I know I will cry too much. I just cut an onion for a salad and cried more than I cried the day when I was born. 😂 Cooking with raw onion is not for me.

  3. Your next kitchen toy should be a mandolin, handy tool. A ladel would be an easier way to transfer stock to the onions. As a fellow Canuck, still love the Jays!) , I love your channel. You're a great Canadian food ambassador! Hugs from SSM ONT…you'll get that one🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

  4. I made Julia's for our Christmas dinner started last year after you made it! It was incredible, difficult to beat… So consider me locked in for this cage match! Ding ding 🔔

  5. 23:17 The one trick I stand by for caramelising onions is to pour a bit of water in at the start. The pan's already going to be flooded with water once the onions begin to break down so it doesn't affect the end product too much, but it means you can cook them much more aggressively and reduce the length of time you spend babysitting them.

  6. No one actually uses "flûte" for this type of bread in France.
We often say "baguette tradition" (or sometimes bakeries have their own names for it) but I haven't heard anyone use "flûte" in my 28years of existence. Especially for a low quality baguette like Ace, just "une baguette" is more than enough😅
First thing I'd think about if you say "flûte" in a cooking related conversation would be a thin tall glasses we use for champagne.

  7. My son worked at a pizza joint, he has to set up the salad bar. He used his ski goggles. He was terribly sensitive to onions.

  8. Is this on purpose or did he accidentally make recipes for the three chefs that appear in the first challenge of Next Gen Chef? 😭

  9. Skip some salt and add to your stock a good heaping teaspoon of Marmite. It adds a big umami hit to your stock and it is not bouillon. Then salt to taste. ❤

  10. The funny thing about French onion soup, it's no longer really about the onions, it's about the quality of the stock.
