Allison opens today’s video with a reflection on the Louvre jewel heist — a reminder to make the most of travel experiences while we can, as history and treasures can change in an instant.

Also, today we’ve got a big update on the Sapphire Princess — she’s fresh out of dry dock, but there’s been a mix of exciting progress and a few bumps along the way.

Here’s what we cover:
1️⃣ Sapphire Princess Dry Dock Recap – The ship completed her dry dock in Portland, Oregon, before heading into the South Pacific.
2️⃣ Plumbing Issues – On day one, a pipe burst on Deck 10 mid-aft flooded 19 cabins. The Princess crew responded quickly — ripping out carpet, replacing padding, and getting guests back into rooms within hours.
3️⃣ Cabin Temperature Problems – Some guests reported rooms as hot as 80°F on embarkation day, but the issues were resolved after persistence from guests and the crew.
4️⃣ Dining Reservation Glitches – Multiple reports of reservations disappearing or reassigning guests with strangers — a problem occurring fleetwide.
5️⃣ Construction Ongoing – The new Crown Grill (replacing the Savoy Dining Room) and Makoto Ocean Sushi (replacing the Internet Café) are still under construction and expected to open November 7, 2025.
6️⃣ Specialty Dining Options – For now, Sabatini’s and Churrascaria remain the only specialty venues available with the Princess Premier package.

💬 Let me know what you think — have you ever experienced issues right after a dry dock, or do you think it’s just part of the process?

  1. 1 – What do you think — are these post–dry dock issues just normal growing pains, or should Princess be catching them sooner?
2 – Have you ever had dining reservations disappear before a cruise or onboard? How did Princess (or another cruise line) handle it for you?
3 – Do you think the Portland dry dock facility is just unlucky, or could there be something to the repeated plumbing issues on ships that come out of there?
4 – And on a different note — how do you feel about the Louvre jewel heist and seeing travel destinations change over time?

  2. We’ve had some flooding issues here in the Coral Princess. Down on deck 5 & I believe they had to move some guests. Also some move over offers were apparently made to guests on the next sailing I am told. Seems these leaks on older ships are becoming quite common.

  3. Absolute NO BRAINER that dining reservations are to be honored‼️ It appears that Princess is making changes and doesn’t care how it will affect cruisers. 🫤 Be loud & persistent with concerns, disappointments and plain disregard of Princess’s “upgrades🙄”.

  4. 1 & 3, Princess needs to check into these plumbing & a/c issues on ships just out of dry dock.. Seems to becoming a pattern? I was on the Sapphire 10/8 7 day to Mexico, its very 1st cruise out of dry dock & my cabins a/c was very weak tho no plumbing issues that I know of… They were on the a/c quickly and rectified the issue. 2. The app is not working to book dining, continually gives errors tho we had no issues being walk-ins at the MDR. Seemed all the towels, robes, dishes, silverware, curtains, glasses, hangers, etc were all brand new which was very nice.

  5. Ruth and I are on the Sapphire Princess. We have had no problems with our cabin. Two of our table mates have had problem with their cabin being too cold. We have noticed that the carpet in the buffet is horrendous. It looks like it has never been vacuumed.

  6. Was on Sapphire right after dry dock….dinner reservations for us were perfect. No problems. A few A/C and plumbing issues but nothing with dining.😊

  7. I was on the 7 day cruise on Sapphire that was right off the dry dock. Several cabins was having AC problems then. We did not have problems but they still had to replace our thermostat and part of the AC unit in our cabin. They told use 500 cabins still needed these upgrades after the dry dock. We were on de m 10 so I guess we dodged a bullet on that one. They were having all kinds of dining issues. On the second formal night we went to the marriage show(45 minutes on the other end of the ship) between our appetizer and main course.

  8. When booking a dining reservation using the app, before you finalize the reservation, it asks if want either a private table or a shared table. It's easy to miss that option and I have almost requested a shared table when I wanted a private table.
