    3 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled (optional) and sliced ⅛-inch thick
    2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
    ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
    3 Tablespoons butter
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
    3 cups whole milk
    1 teaspoon kosher salt
    ½ teaspoon black pepper
    ¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
    1½ Tablespoons fresh thyme, divided

  2. Looks nice but these aren't cheesy potatoes. They're potatoes in cheese sauce.

    Cheesy potatoes is potatoes and cheese, and seasonings. Maybe onions. But no milk, no sauce. None of that.

  3. Pretty good recipe, I added tasty cheese and a bit of cream. I didn't use nutmeg as I'm not fond of that spice in my savoury food. Will definitely use this recipe again 👍
