🍞 Custard French Toast

🥣 Ingredients
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
8 slices thick sliced bread
Butter or oil for the pan

Optional add ins
Zest of 1 orange or lemon
1 tbsp bourbon or dark rum

🥄 Instructions
Make the custard
In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.

Soak the bread
Pour custard into a shallow dish. Dip each bread slice 20 to 30 seconds per side.

Heat your skillet
Set to medium. Add butter until sizzling.

Cook each slice
Pan fry 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown and set in the center.

Serve hot
Top with berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar, or all three.
