I still can’t believe this is the last leg and final episode of this 60-day journey. We left Sardinia tired but oh so happy and grateful to have had such an incredible experience, met so many wonderful people, already longing to return BUT ready for the final stretch of this adventure.

From stunning islands to bustling cities, small towns to hidden gems, this journey has been nothing short of magical, made wonderful by the people in each place. Each stop along the way gave me new friends, stories, and lessons I’ll always carry with me and this final destination was no exception.

The heart of this last stop was someone really close to home, a Singaporean baker right in the heart of France. Ewan has been baking traditional French bread for the past 18 years, perfecting an entirely new skill, having left his life as an engineer in his home country decades ago.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t lived at home in decades, every bit of him is still terpaling Singapura, lah! Left Singapore but Singapura tetap di hati! I love how he’s kept his culture and roots alive through it all while seamlessly assimilating into the French way of life. 🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬🇫🇷

I’ve always been fascinated by baking, the science behind it all, the precision; pure artwork. Ewan opening his doors and home to us gave me an even clearer insight into the real hard work and dedication that goes into making the perfect bread, the traditional way.

He operates on little to no sleep, not only baking some of the best bread in France but also providing a community hub. It really is the dough that holds the village together. The only trouble is, I don’t think the village will ever let Ewan leave—let this man have a holiday please! HEHE. Joking!

This committed baker has dedicated his life to this craft, spending most of his time ensuring his delicious bread supply for not just the village of Saint-Robert but also beyond (some of his customers come all the way from Paris!) never runs out.

Ewan, thank you for welcoming me into your home and life, showing us how passion and dedication play a major role in creating something special and lasting. PROUD NEIGHBOUR HERE. 🇲🇾❤️🇸🇬

This was the perfect wrap-up for our KL to London series, with a piece of home I had missed so much! I’m Malaysian, yes, but Singaporeans and Malaysians are like siblings, you know? Differences aside, same people, same culture, same language; some ties will never be broken. ❤️

We ended the journey at the Greenwich Line in London, just as I had promised, after catching the ferry from Calais to Dover and taking a bunch of trains across the city. Standing there, at the line where time begins, felt like the most fitting end to this 60-day adventure.

I think this journey left me with immense gratitude for the kindness in people and kept my faith in humanity alive, stronger than ever. Each place we visited was an experience I’ll always remember.

THANK YOU, WITH ALL MY HEART, for coming along on this journey with me and showing your support.

This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to share with you guys more about the next adventure!
