French fries are a popular snack or side dish made from potatoes that are cut into thin strips and deep-fried until golden brown and crispy on the outside, while remaining soft and fluffy on the inside. They are usually seasoned with salt and can be enjoyed plain or served with accompaniments like ketchup, mayonnaise, chili sauce, or cheese. French fries are versatile and often paired with fast foods such as burgers, fried chicken, grilled meats, or fish. Depending on preference, they can be cut into shoestrings, wedges, crinkle-cuts, or thick-cut styles, making them one of the most loved comfort foods worldwide.

Ingredients

8 large potatoes depending with the quantity you need

Cold water

Salt (to taste)

Cooking oil (for deep frying)

Method

1. Peel and Cut Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes.

Slice them into thin, even strips (about ¼ inch thick) for uniform cooking.

2. Soak in Cold Water

Place the potato strips in a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes.

This removes excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
3. Drain and Dry

Drain the water and pat the potatoes completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels

4. First Fry (Blanching)

Heat oil in a deep pan
Fry the potatoes in small batches for 3–4 minutes until soft but not browned.

Remove and drain on paper towels.

5. Second Fry (Crisping)
Increase oil temperature
Fry the blanched potatoes again for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy
6. Season and Serve

Remove fries from oil, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt.

Serve hot with ketchup, mayonnaise, or your favorite dip. 🍟:
