Both the cornetto and croissant are the golden standard for breakfast pastries in their respective countries: in France you’d start your day with a flakey, buttery croissant and a cafe au lait, while in Italy breakfast would be a soft and sweet cornetto with a cappuccino.   1. Not only the italian one is better because it is filles with various deliciois things, it’s also healthier because less butter and more sugar

  2. the cornetti that i had were not laminated with butter, at least not as much as croissants. they’re very bread like and not crunch like a croissant

  3. And both cornetti and croissants come from Austrian bakers! The traditional croissants (butter) are rolled like Crescent Moons (that's a historical reason for that: the war against the Turks that were attacking Vienna). The ones without butter (margarine) are straight. In Italy cornetti are straight and imitate horns and not crescent moons. The original ones do not have fillings, that arrive later to the bakeries. Cuisine evolves with time.

  4. not just eggs: italian cornetto has more sugar and also vanilla and orange aroma in it. and the folding is different too: 3 time a 3 fold for cornetti which makes 27 ultra thin layers, one 3 fold and one 4 fold for croissants for a total of 12 thicker layers. i like both filled with custard, i prefer italian cornetto if the filling is pistacchio, nutella or apricot jam but my overall favorite is french croissant with ham and cheese
