Hi, bonjour ! Today I visited the bakery that won Best Baguette in France 2024 and got to meet the master baker behind it! From crusts to centuries-old traditions, this is more than just bread… it’s French culture!

Do you like to eat baguettes? 😄

Address : 20 Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 75011 Paris
I tasted the Baguette de Tradition for 1,15 € 🙂

  1. I absolutely love Utopie. Their roulé sésame is one of my favorite viennoiseries ever. Please visit the 2025 baguette winner!!

  2. I haven't eaten bread in years, but I will agree that the smell of it baking is wonderful.

  3. Merci pour ta venue 🙏🏾🙏🏾 et j'adore la manière dont tu abordes le sujet du pain, de la baguette. C'est super intéressant, merci 😁

  4. Very good video. Thanks for educating us on the history of the baguette. I would love to see a video on French food and culture. Please also visit the 2025 baguette winner. 🥰

  5. I went to the same bakery yesterday and I took the bus right after and the bus passed by the bakery and I saw you filming your video! I was so gutted I missed meeting you by 5 minutes 🥲

  6. Merci pour la leçon d'histoire. Beaucoup des choses mentionnées sont également faites avec du pain italien dans le cadre de la tradition italienne, comme manger la sauce avec le pain et un morceau de pain italien frais le matin avec du beurre.

  7. Yes, please for the 2025 Winner interview! Sanity is bread! French Diet would be a great video, too. The baker was very handsome!

  8. I love your videos and how you speak both French and English. This one was extra special as I like to say I have baguette dreams! Ah the memories!

  9. I grew up using bread to push food onto my fork or wiping my plate and eating it. But my favorite is eating freshly baked bread with butter for dessert.

  10. I enjoyed your vlog very much. I love it when you interview chefs, shop owners, craftsmen, etc. Already looking forward to your next video.

  11. Fun history of the baguette. 🥖
I live in Southern California and having bread with your meal isn’t really common unless you’re having a sandwich or go out for a fancier meal where they will bring you a bread basket before the meal, usually an evening meal.
    💗

  12. French baguettes are the best but unfortunately in Australia bread is not something to be celebrated. I did not realise how simple the ingredients of the baguette are. Do they make baguettes gluten free for those that can’t have gluten. Thanks Elle I enjoyed this video, especially the history.

  13. Cool video, Gabrielle 😊! I enjoyed learning the history of baguettes and your interview with Chef Xavier! I really enjoyed hearing his insights. I need to visit Boulangerie Utopie 😊.

The baguette you tried looks so good. Glad you enjoyed it! It'd be neat if you tried the 2025 winner also!

It was great learning about the importance of baguettes to French Culture. 😊 I eat bread daily but it is more out of habit than culture. I want to try more breads. Your points at the end are so meaningful too. I often get really busy and have taken some meals for granted but your video reminds me to cherish simplicity and community too 😊.

Your videos are informative and great! Kudos. Have a nice day, Gabrielle!

  14. Many thanks from San Diego, California 😎

I buy a fresh baguette nearly each week … due to memories of my week in Paris in 1987, and 1998 and the impact it made on me.
Such an amazing lifestyle food. And today you shared SO much information. I was blown away.

I love your thoughtful mind and interests. 🪄

    And, 🐕🥰

  15. When I lived in Okinawa, Japan, the university (international) where I worked sold freshly baked baguettes. As they were testing the ovens, they would give out freshly baked baguettes, warm and tasty. When I visited their main shop, I bought a baguette to bring home. I took one piece to eat, then another; the baguette did not make it home. Japan is, of course, a rice culture, but there are lots of good bakeries all over the country.

  16. Loved the history lesson!

Not sure if I missed you saying it, but a very interesting thing is that the word “baguette” actually means “wand” (comme une baguette magique (a magic wand)).

Here in LA, we've got a good bakery/cafe up the street and we get a baguette most days. Sadly, it is over $4 – a LOT more than in France. But they’re actually quite good quality.

And my breakfast is then typically half a baguette sliced with President unsalted French butter and St. Dalfour French strawberry jam. Sometimes, I'll do the butter and honey-roasted turkey (open faced), or perhaps butter and lox (saumon fumé).

We're moving to France (not Paris) in probably a little over a year, and one of the requirements is a good boulangerie close by.
