French Walnut Wine or Vin de Noix

It’s green walnut season and I got A LOT of messages about people making nocino this year (like every year). It was a good impetus to finally put this video together because if you like nocino and haven’t made this yet, you really need to.

Vin de noix is similar to nocino in that both are liqueurs made from unripe green black walnuts. You can also use green hickory nuts or butternuts.

The big difference between the two is that vin de noix is a mix of red wine an brandy, where nocino is grain alcohol like vodka or everclear, so it has a higher ABV. The vin de noix drinks like a delicious sherry, where nocino is stronger and I usually mix it with things. One taste between the two and I think you’ll agree. Try it out and let me know what you think!
