I got together with a bunch of my YouTuber bartender friends and challenged them all to come up with a historical negroni riff! Here were the rules:

– Must be based on a historical figure who you share with your audience
– Must generally resemble a negroni (but have fun with it)
– Must contain at least 1 ounce or 30 mls of a bitter liqueur (Amaro, Aperitif, Etc.)

Everyone who was involved in this challenge put an insane amount of thought into their creations and you should check all of them out!

  1. Well, for my #NegroniRiff (lol) I have made a riff based on the cumbia band Damas Gratis before, called the Lescano (after Pablo Lescano, the leader). It's as follows:

1oz yerba mate-infused grappa (infuse 1 tablespoon into 100ml for 1h, then strain through coffee filter)
    1oz malbec-based vermouth
    1oz Campari
    1 dash chocolate bitters
    Express orange peel on top

I'll try making a new one for this challenge particularly! 😀

  2. Just subbed… I grew up in a town named after Lafayette… We then moved in the same town… Now I live in the same town (but my mailing address is for the next township over, because their post office is in our town and I live withing a short walking distance of that post office)… My favorite craft beer bar, when no one was doing this over twenty years ago was called the General Lafayette Inn… My wife's grandmother lived in that bar, not because she was an alcoholic, but because her family owned and ran it in the 1900's… We 100% have to make this cocktail…

  3. That's a beautiful color! I'm going to have to try this at home! But I'll need to buy all four ingredients…. 🙂
