Ruggabellus v’s Gino Soccio
Today’s combo is none other then the Sallio 2017 by Ruggabellus. Immaculately grown Eden Valley fruit of 47% Semillion 37% Muscat and 16% Riesling.
This is an orange wine made my Abel Gibson from the Barossa. With winemaking in his blood, Abel is not afraid to push the boundaries of comfortability.
Utterly beguiling from the first sip. Not only does this wine come with such high accolades but it ticks to box for Esther.
So let’s talk about the wine… it wants to be voluptuous, yet it is lovely, clean and fresh. With almost an apricot kernel bitterness and saline saltiness. Which attractively plays well with the sweetness, which is almost unnoticed. It’s funky yet clean. The use of old age barrels gives it this leatheriness which holds this wine together. My overall opinion is that this wine is incredible.
So it’s a no brainer to pair this with French Canadian Disco Funk and electronic keyboard stabs, producing some serious dance floor heat. The track is Who Dunnit? Released in 82’. Enjoy
