President Trump’s administration is standing by their threats to place export tariff taxes on European Union exporters of wine and wineries who market their products to American consumers from Europe here in the United States. There have also been talks of exceptions for certain companies and exporters or importers.

  1. It’s a common pattern in trade wars: both parties think they’re punishing the other, but they often cause significant self-inflicted harm.

  2. Who cares if there’s a law they can’t sell directly to us? Laws are for Democrats. We elected our leader GO TRUMP ❤🎉

  3. I believe President Trump knows exactly what to do, when to do it & how to do it. Pride is only enhanced by the people working with him. It is what we elected him for. Common sense for one.

  4. Lets be brutally honest, President 'Governor' Trump's threats against Canada's sovereignty and economy, as well as Europe and Ukraine, are the words and logic of a six time bankrupt, convicted presidential… felon! If 'Governor' Trump had not been reelected he would be facing sentencing for his 34 felony convictions. Unfortunately, for both the American people, Canada and the world, every elected US president is immune from criminal or civil litigation for the duration of their term in office, this however will not be the case after 'Governor' Trump leaves office.

  5. The distribution companies should not be allowed, they hurt small producers by restricting their abilities to sell their own products. They are like the Big Farm companies closing down and buying out smaller farms.

  6. My house doesn't even drink EU wine. Screw the distributors. They are a monopoly anyways. Drink American booze and buy American products. Make America Great Again! By the way, Tesla vehicles made in America, are the most American made vehicle an American could buy. Let alone the best vehicle you can buy in America. And, #1, the safest vehicle for your family! FACTS!

  7. The EU geographical indications system (GI) protects the names of products that originate from specific regions and have specific qualities or enjoy a reputation linked to the production territory that US producers consider generic.

For instance, US cheeses labeled as parmesan or asiago cannot be sold in the EU, however so is using "New Zealand Roquefort". Only cheeses produced in regions with GI registrations can use those names.

The name "Champagne" is protected by European law ensuring that only the authentic product from the Champagne region can bear that name.

EU geographical indication rules also forbid the use of terms like "kind," "type," "style," or "imitation" alongside a GI, even if the true origin is stated, to avoid misleading consumers.

For instance, Comté-style cheese produced in New Zealand is prohibited, as it uses the protected GI "Comté" in a way that suggests a similar style or type, but not the genuine product.

  8. Donald Trump does not like imports.

Are you listening, U.S. business leaders? Have you not been paying attention?

If you plan on selling cars or any other products in the United States going forward, you'd better have a plan on making them in the U.S.

Why? Because otherwise, the Trump Administration will hit you with ever-increasing tariffs — and eventually (at least conceptually), a pure and total ban on imports.

  9. I love how one mom and pop store. It's supposed to put some negativity on these tariffs, we don't care? There may be moments of discomfort, but these countries will come around

  10. The US would be in a much better position, negotiating with the individual countries rather than the EU as a bloc.

Trump should divide them. For example, no tariffs on Italian goods, but leave the tariffs on goods from unfriendly countries.

  11. Do people not understand that a countries economy cannot grow, and will shrink if it isolates itself. I know the U.S.A is afraid of all other countries, and most think the U.S.A is pretty much the oldest country on earth… but I news, your are not old; and your are very, very stupid.

  12. Most winemakers and growers like myself want US consumers to buy our own wine. Let europeans drink their wine, which they do anyway. Why don't these media wheres give actual data instead of these mom and pop anecdotes to push their political agenda.

Here is the data. US wine exported to entire world measly 1.3 billion. European union bought only 167 million Source USDA
France exported 12 billion dollars wine to US in 2023,
Italy did 5 billion and spain did 3 billion. Not counting the others.

We are being ripped off. Last year the US wine market collapsed and lot of growers had to let their grapes rot on the vine. Out buyer winery has stopped business for this year. If Americans drank American wine, so many grape growers and wineries would not be struggling.
