The US president has threatened 200% tariffs on all wines, champagnes, and other alcoholic beverages imported from the European Union into the US.
Donald Trump said it was in response to the EU placing a 50% tariff on whisky.

Why just not tarrif anything? I mean if for example US sends 50 mil worth of goods to France and gets taxed 25% and France also sends some other kind of goods worth 50mil with 25% tarrif, isnt it in the end tarrif free trade?

Let’s be real for a minute here Europeans. How many American food, drink and home products do we buy on a regular basis? I’ve taken a look at my shopping basket each day since this nonsense began and my family just does not (with the exception of Ben and Gerry’s). We have been avoiding the poison food for a long time so it makes very little difference to us regular Europeans. We will still be enjoying the products that we regularly enjoy.
