  1. Check out the Ostritch speak easy if you have time! You can order food from the restaurant upstairs and it’s such a great vibe!

  2. The gorgonzola slander, and no bacon wrapped dates? Were they stuffed bacon wrapped dates? My friend stuffs hers with blue cheese and an almond.

  3. I remember the first time I came to the states to visit my grandparents. We went out to eat and I ordered a glass of wine. Imagine my horror when they brought it to me in a red Dixie cup with ice cubes. My grandparents never batted an eye at it.

  4. Our first time in the US surprised us . . . we knew we were expected to tip but really? Why don't the restaurants and diners pay a decent living wage so that tipping is optional, such as for good service, rather than adding it to the bill? Our only hope was that the tips are collated at the end of the evening and shared with all staff, not just waiting staff and wine/drinks stewards, as the kitchen staff and others involved, deserve to share in the rewards.

  5. Hmm I feel like the US produces quite a lot of good wine along the entire pacific coast, and Mexico even has a lovely wine country in Baja. Maybe Dario could expand his palate? He’s missing out on a lot of exciting wines with this outdated point of view.
