About us,

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.

The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.

Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

  1. I seriously loved the colorful embroidered fabric that was also displayed on the little sofa. You show remarkable restraint, choosing the solid. Perhaps that’s best, but I’m still dreaming of the colorful one.

  2. That basket pattern fabric (in all the shades) was STUNNING! That would be amazing to see in your chateau! Amazing choices all around.

  3. You don’t need to keep it plain because you picked a bold wall color. Tue bold wall color calls for bold contrasts rather than something demure. The first patterned one with the bits of red would be the perfect bed spread in the Tiffany Room. I would build the rest of the decor from the color palate of that gorgeous fabric.

  4. Oh, the copper kitchen pieces!!! Swoon ❤️❤️❤️
In 1973, I was 17 and spent an unforgettable week in Paris with a group of students and my aunt and uncle as chaperons. ❤️❤️❤️

  5. Terry and Ash, Vivienne is a treasure. She is so generous with her time, talent, knowledge, and friendship. She and Simon are keepers! 😊❤😊

  6. That first fabric you 😅pointed out that had a similar green-blue to the Tiffany Room provided the pops of other colors that would
make the jed stand out brilliantly, was perfect. My concern by going monochromatic is that everything cancels out everything else. I love
    monochromatic outfits, and you’ve
i provided a lot of gold, try bringing in accent colors.

  7. I do love Vivienne, too. I can't imagine anyone more fun to accompany me shopping. That is beside you guys and Stephanie and Philip.
There were so many gorgeous choices. I don't envy you.
The greenish grey paisley that you were considering for the curtains is sublime.👍
I was surprised by your final fabric choice. It appears to match the paneling perfectly, but it also seems a bit monochromatic. Perhaps you're already considering counterbalancing it with an accent colored gimp. Whatever you do will be amazing.
Now I'm anxious to watch Vivienne's recounting of the trip.
    ❤ from TX!

  8. The thing is, it is fun to see all that glamour, and sometimes you find something there you can use and afford. But it should just reinforce for how much you accomplish WITHOUT having to spend like that. If the panels that you painted for your wooden room were to be sold in Paris, you would make a fortune and be famous. So use Paris for inspiration and small fabric purchases and braid and ribbon and just keep on keeping on. You are as good as Paris, and spend way less doing it. The trumeau you put in the other suite is something special. And cost nothing compared to Paris flea market prices. You are you, abd that is just fine.

  9. I could have spent HOURS in that fabric store. The embroidery fabric with the floral design and blue-ribbon motif would have been beautiful on the furniture pieces you are restoring. I think they would have held their own in the room without being too much.

  10. What a fabulous fabric store so many beautiful colours and patterns you must have been like a child in a sweet shop Terry no doubt you enjoyed it Ash lol ❤

  11. The fabric you've chosen is perfect with the curtain fabric and the wall colours! Wonderful!!!

  12. I love that flea market. I think it makes my heart beat faster because of all the beauty. Vivienne seems like a dear woman and I enjoy their channel. I love the fabric. ❤

  13. Loved all the beautiful fabrics and trims. The chinoiserie panels were exceptional. Hope you had fun. I can't wait to see how you finish the rooms.

  14. So what was the most expensive fabric there? I’d worry about stains with the plain colors. Would rather see that as curtains and a patterned fabric on the furniture. Thanks for taking us along.

  15. I saw a large septarian nodule from Utah on a glass shelf!
While not an ‘antique’ per se, it’s certainly much older than anything else in the shops!
Curious to see a concretion from the US in France.

  16. You need to look at Paris as a place for inspiration and for specific such as fabrics and passementerie. Otherwise very expensive. Your talents at refinishing and upcycling serve you well with all your local and auction finds. Oh but what wonders to drook over!

  17. I love the blue fabric, perfect with not being gaudy.. 😂 Vivianne is just a gorgeous lady inside and out, well knowledgeable and very talented 😊

  18. This was a splinded way to share your experiences. I loved the flow, the conversation, the intimate sites, and the music. Your perspective theads my own. I followed the link from Chateau Love vlog. So glad I did. Thank you for sharing.

  19. Looking at all the fabrics had me dreaming 😊, I love the one you picked the furniture is going to be stunning.❤

  20. The fabric you bought is lovely, but a bit too matchy matchy for that room. A nice cream color would stand out and be stunning.

  21. I just watched Vivienne’s video and now I am watching yours.
I am sure you will find some lovely things in Paris.

  22. This episode was marvelous! Thank you for taking us along to Paris. I haven’t been there in six years 😢

  23. I'm a little surprised that half way thru the video and she hasn't given you a present. This may be a record but I guess we have to wait until the end. Common gal, where's the bling, you always have the best jewelry gifts!!!

  24. My wife and I were shopping in Paris about 40 years ago, and we found a beautiful pair of arte nouveau silver candlesticks at les Halles flea market…still admire them. I enjoyed your shopping trip…triggered lovely memories. Thank you for taking us along.
