Ingredients:
– 3- 4 large russet potatoes (or your favorite variety)
– 1 tbsp salt (for boiling)
– 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil (or alternatively the oil sprays to lessen calories)
– salt to taste
– Optional to add other seasonings like garlic, paprika, pepper, etc
How to make ⬇️
1. Prep the Potatoes: Wash, peel (optional), and cut the potatoes into even sticks, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
2. Cold bath: let the potatoes sit in ice cold water (if you are not boiling so this for like 30 min otherwise a short 10-15 min should be good)
3. Pre-Boil: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, then add the potato sticks. Boil for 5-7 minutes until slightly tender but not fully cooked.
4. Dry the Potatoes: Drain and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is key for crispy fries!
5. Season and Oil: In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, and seasonings of choice
6. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
7. Serve: Once golden and crispy, remove the fries from the air fryer and season with additional salt if desired
And that’s it!!

“Healthy” is a bit dubious… better than deep fried sure. Potatoes are full of carbs, ketchup is full of sugar, you doused em in oil and salt, that looked like olive oil, which generally isn’t meant to get to high temps and can turn into some not so nice byproducts. I absolutely would not judge you for eating them –or even regular French fries for that matter– and it is probably a better alternative to regular fries. “Healthy” is not the right word though…
