Once a month, Cathy crams about ten guests into her small studio, where she serves them dinner for 20 euros. Claude, on the other hand, hosts gourmet lunches for tourists in her Paris loft, charging 60 euros per head. In France, 150 individuals transform their homes into makeshift restaurants, either out of love for cooking or to make ends meet. It’s an undeclared and clandestine activity. Paul Labrosse and Vincent Delmotte met with these French people who, for the duration of a meal, become impromptu restaurateurs.

  1. They had these in Hong Kong in the early 2000’s as a means to cut costs. Many were in the middle/upper floors of warehouses or apartments. Some of the food was wonderful. A way to get around the regulations was to call it a private club and charge $1 membership fee. A wonderful experience, best of luck Chefs.
